Dana Costilow Crisp

BELTON, Texas – Dana Costilow Crisp died in her home in Belton, Texas, on February 20, 2011 at age 60 due to triple negative breast cancer. Dana was born to Henry L. and Rexalee Costilow on November 29, 1950, in Alice, Texas. She grew up in Alice, graduating from William  Adams High  School, making many lifelong friends, including the love of her life, Darrell Crisp. She graduated cum laude from The University of Texas at Austin in 1971. She married Darrell Crisp in Alice,  Texas, on December 27, 1970. She was an avid artist, nature lover, research assistant, loving parent, and treasured as grandmother Nani.  Dana was a long term member of Temple  First United  Methodist Church.

She is survived by her spouse Darrell Crisp, M.D.; of Belton,  Texas; son; Matthew B. Crisp, M.D. and daughter Brooke Crisp of Belton,  Texas; daughter, Kelly M. Savedra and son Terry Savedra of Austin,  Texas; and son, Andrew R. Crisp of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Owen B. Crisp and Miles B. Crisp of Belton, Texas, and Brendan H. Savedra and Lila Cricket Savedra of Austin, Texas. Other survivors include Dana's mother, Rexalee Costilow of Belton, Texas; sister Karen Jones of San Antonio; brother Jan Costilow of Austin, Texas; father-in-law Euell W. Crisp M.D., of Alice, Texas, and beloved nephews and nieces.

Over her lifetime, Dana made many friends due to her gentle spirit, patient kindness, and selfless concern for others. These include her “blah-blah” sisters of Alice, her “southern ladies up to something” of Temple, and the “May 08's.” A celebratory service honoring Dana's life will be officiated by Pastor Tom Robbins at First United Methodist Church of Temple on Friday, March 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. Donations in Dana's name to the Scott and White Children's Hospital  Healing Garden are appreciated.

I am so far behind on information from our class's website and was just reading about Dana's passing today.  May God continue to bless and comfort each of you.  Just remember what a wonderful person Dana was and how many lives she touched throughout her life.
