Edna Monica Smith Bergstrom, of Hurst, TX died on June 15th after a lengthy illness. Born in New York City, N.Y. on June 29, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Wallace H. Smith and Florence P. Smith. Monica and her twin brother, Lance, were raised in Alice, Texas.

She graduated in 1971 with a BS in Education from Southwest Texas State University with honors. After graduation on 8/21/71, she and Jim were married on 8/28/71 and moved to San Antonio to begin the next 53 years together. Monica loved teaching children, birding, gardening, and crafting as well as any kind of puzzle.

She was well loved and respected by her family and friends, and her beautiful smile and cheerfulness will be very much missed.

Monica is survived by her husband, Jim, Sister in Law Vicki Megard and husband Tim, Cousins Bill Barkley and Betty Flowers, Bill Rice and Sharon Snyder, extended cousins Shirley Shay, Neverlyn Lingerfelt, and Dennis Teichelman, nephew Matt Green and niece Ashley Dugas.

The Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, July 7th at 2PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, TX76034, with receiving of friends after the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Union Gospel Mission Tarrant County Donation Form.
