Melvin Carl Gathright, Sr. passed away, Saturday, November 27, 2004. He was 55. Mr. Gathright was born April 14, 1949 in Alice, Texas. He was a 1967 graduate of Alice High School and attended Pan American A & M University. He was a U.S. Army veteran and vice president and area manager for ACME Truckline at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Gathright of Alice, Texas; one daughter, Darla Gathright-Jacobs of Corpus Christi, Texas; one son, Melvin Carl (Kristen) Gathright, Jr. of Alice, Texas; his parents, Milton and Carlie Gathright of Alice, Texas; three sisters: Glenda Gathright of Alice, Texas, Linda (John) Berry of Alice, Texas and Brenda (Arthur) Hollers of Oneida, Tennessee; one brother, Robert Paul (Karen) Gathright of Alice, Texas; three grandchildren, David Jacobs II and Jayce and Taryn Gathright; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Dec. 1, 2004 at Holmgreen Mortuary with burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
