Obituary for Sherriann Dailey

Sherriann Wright Dailey passed away in her home peacefully on October 7th, 2020 with her daughter Dana and her kitties, Pinks and Trouble by her side, she was 74. She fought a long, courageous battle with Lymphoma over the past 3 years. Sherri was born May 26, 1946 in Alice, Texas to Howard and Gwyndolene (Hooser) Wright. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 55 years, George “Denton” Dailey, who passed away November 27, 2019. She is survived by her daughter, Dana Lyn Dailey of Houston, Texas. She also leaves behind her brother, Wayne (Linda) Wright of Coleman, Texas and sister, Lynette Wright of Houston, Texas. Nieces, Gwyndolene (Trey) Elliott and Haley (Chase) Hill. Nephews Michael (Stephanie) Wright and Matthew (Hannah) Wright. Great nieces and nephews, Aiden, Ava, Ella Grace, Rowan, Holden and Bennett.

Sherri was born and raised in Alice, Texas, attending St Elizabeth’s Catholic School and graduating from William Adams High School in 1964. She married her high school sweetheart Denton Dailey in June of that year. The following year, they moved to the big city of Houston and called the Montrose neighborhood home. They would spend their free time riding motorcycles, traveling, and socializing with friends. Their daughter Dana Lyn Dailey followed 6 years later. Sherri worked in various fields, predominantly the computer industry until retiring in 1991. They stayed in Houston until 1993, when Denton’s job took the family to Corpus Christi. They lived there for the next 25 years until a quick day trip to Kerrville encouraged them to retire there in the beautiful Hill country. They lived in Kerrville for the next two years enjoying the deer and new neighbors before health issues brought them back to Houston in 2019.

Sherri was never one to bite her tongue, she spoke what she thought, and that is what everyone loved about her. So candid and real, to know her was to love her. Sherri never met a stranger. She had many lifelong friends and continued making them until she went to be with the angels. She and Denton spent much of their free time with the Coastal A’s Car Club, a hobby that found them many dear friends. Sherri was known for many things, but a few that stand out was her HUGE love of cats, the color pink, crafts, shopping for clothes, shoes and handbags or anything with sparkle. She also enjoyed oldies music, picture taking, any type of game, and Mexican food paired with a good frozen margarita.

Her family was everything to her and her best times were by far spent with her daughter Dana, a love that is never-ending. They spoke daily and the most important role of her life was being a mom to Dana, which she was the very best. Sherri was the most amazing mom, wife, daughter, aunt, sister, and friend. She never missed a celebration, milestone, or birthday. She adored her nieces, nephews, and their growing families. She was the best gift giver straight from the heart and she knit beautiful mementos for her family to cherish forever. Her home was full of pictures of family and friends and she kept and knew so much about the family tree. Once her daughter Dana, had grown and moved out, she still kept a box full of the best games and toys for her nieces and nephews to play with when they visited. She wanted everyone to have fun and you could always find lots of laughter in her home. Her family especially looked forward to her making the best enchiladas for Christmas Eve dinner and many other treasured holiday memories. Sherri was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 22nd, anytime between 5pm and 8pm at Cadillac Bar(Party Shack Room- Behind Restaurant), 1802 Shepherd Dr. Houston, Texas 77007. Social distancing will be practiced.
