Larry O'Rear VIEW PROFILE

Nolan Larry O'Rear of Georgetown died December 27 at his home following a brief illness. At the time of his death, he was 58 years, 9 months, and 4 days old. Following today's funeral service, burial will be in the Georgetown I.O.O.F. Cemetery, with his sons Mark, Wes, Paul, David, and Clint serving as pallbearers (along with Dr. Gene Richardson).

Larry O'Rear was born March 23, 1931, at his parents' home in Atlanta, Texas, the son of Horace Clinton and Grace Collins O'Rear. He was married to Bettie Jeanette Bennett on July 27, 1956 in Alice, Texas. His wife Bettie, of Georgetown, survives him.

Larry O'Rear lived and taught school for many years in Alice, Texas, before moving to Georgetown five and one-half years ago. At the time of his death, he was a computer industry executive and college instructor in Austin. As an educator, he was highly respected and widely recognized. He was a member and former elder of the Georgetown Church of Christ. Throughout his adult life he preached and taught the gospel in many places, both in English and Spanish.

In addition to his wife, Larry O'Rear is survived by five sons, Mark O'Rear and wife Christie of Dickinson, Wes O'Rear and wife Pam of Hockley, Paul O'Rear and wife Susan of Waxahachie, David O'Rear and wife Beth of Huntsville, and Clint O'Rear of Georgetown; his mother Grace O'Rear of Georgetown; and six grandchildren, Joshua, Jennifer, Jessica, Ashley, Justin, and Evan. They will miss their Paw-Paw.
