Began my teaching career More…with the Kingsville I.S.D in January 1974. Came home in August of 1980 at Memorial Middle School for one year. Left the teaching field for a 2 year stint at FESCO as a Lab Technician...that was a great place to work. BUT, I missed the classroom and returned as a 5th Grade Teacher at the BEST PLACE: Salazar Elementary School. The students, teachers, staff and Mr. A. Farias made this one of the best places for ANY teacher to enjoy his/her craft. Teaching with the 'likes' of Gerri, Lydia, Esmeralda, Josie, Anna, Irma, Chavelona..lol was the best time I ever had and get paid!!! When 5th Grade was moved out of Elementary, I spent the next 7 years at Memorial Intermediate. Felt the need to 'move on' and left for San Antonio with the Harlandale I.S.D...this one school, however, did rival Salazar Elementary School. I spent the next 3 years at Gilbert Elementary as a Science teacher. During these 3 years, our campus acquired the much sought after Exemplary rating. I now teach with the Northside I.S.D. in San Antonio...at the same time planning my 'retirement'! |
