Maria Garcia Vela

I married Raul Vela who is a 1967 graduate from William Adams. We married in 1970 and since he was in the US Army and a 20 yr. retired Viet-nam veteran. I had my daughter and son and was a stay at home mom for a while. My daughter got married after college to Robert Defreitas and they have two sons, Jake Andrew turned 13 in Febuary and Logan Antonio turned 16 in April and Emily Olivia just turned 6 in April. Robert is from the Virgin Islands and is a drafter in San Antonio.
Our daughter Marivel is in the medical field. Our son Jaime is Married to Nisa and have a daughter Gia who will turn 15 this December My son is a band director in Beeville and for those that knew Mariachi Cascabel, both my daughter and son were two of the original players. Nisa works with MHMR. In 2000 Raul and I decided to start fostering. We loved fostering and fostered many children. We stopped fostering in 2007. I now subsitute part-time in Ricardo ISD only and Raul has been an air craft mechanic since he retired from the military. He has retired from the Army, Boeing and soon from L-3 communication. I cannot stay at home too long so I will continue with school. We have gone to several school reunions and have had lots of fun seeing old friends and meeting new people as well. We always look forward to any get togethers that anyone out there want to have even if it is not a reunion, we are willing to help out.
