Juan Francisco Trevino Huerta - Class Of 1967

Dr. Juan Francisco Trevino Huerta

Dr. Juan Francisco Trevino Huerta, 64, passed away Saturday March 30, 2013 at his residence after a sudden illness.

Dr. Huerta was loved and respected both in the field of education and out. First and foremost, he was a family man. That was evidenced by the meals he proudly and lovingly cooked for family and friends. He loved his children more than life itself and was proud of their accomplishments. The mutual love and respect between he and his wife remains cherished. He loved playing golf; a passion of over 45 years. He fostered his son’s love of the game and a result, John Jr. earned a college scholarship. He enjoyed rounds of golf with two of his best friends, Mario Garcia and Joe Trejo, and of course, the occasional game with his brother Candelario. His work with the Corpus Christi School District consumed most of his waking hours. Dr. H (some staff even called him Dad) loved his job, one that afforded him the opportunity to better children’s lives. He could appear gruff on the outside, but to know him was to love him, and in reality, he was ALL heart! He often told colleagues, “How lucky we are to have a job to go to.” He was a highly respected educator, a consummate professional and his word was his bond. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, his Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling and his Doctoral Degree in Bilingual Education, all from Texas A&I University in Kingsville Texas. As a husband, father, brother, educator, colleague and friend Juan Huerta WILL be missed. He is up in Heaven with our Lord, asking for an early afternoon Tee Time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Candelario F. and Celia Trevino Huerta, one brother, George T. Huerta, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Minga R. Huerta, one son, Juan F. T. Huerta, Jr., and two daughters, Victoria (Randy) Rodriguez and Teresa (Conrado) Carrillo, one brother Candelario F. (Cecilia G.) Huerta, one sister Ana Marie (Jaime) Hernandez, mother-in-law Antonia Olivarez, father-in-law Alberto Olivarez, one grandson, Joaquin Isaac Huerta Rodriguez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
