Richard Anthony Schmidt, age 64, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 in Alice, Texas. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 9, 1953 to Emil Paul Schmidt and Stella Ella Meyer Schmidt. He was a life-long member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church; a very dedicated servant who loved to usher the masses. He worked as a sales manager in retail and took great pride in his work. He recently retired from Wal-Mart. He enjoyed the outdoors and took pleasure in the simple things in life. Richard will be deeply and sincerely missed by not only his family, but by the many people whose lives he touched with his thoughtfulness and generosity. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Stella Schmidt of Alice; two sisters, Karen (Chuck) Crawford of Alice and Barbara (Mark) Stahl of Boerne; two brothers, Glenn Schmidt of Refugio and Jerry (Becky) Schmidt of Alice; two nieces, Courtney Schmidt and Morgan Stahl; two nephews, Daren Satsky and Kevin Satsky as well as many cherished friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Holmgreen Mortuary with Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Alice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Alice. Interment will follow at St. John of the Cross Catholic Cemetery in Orange Grove, Texas. Memorial Contributions may be offered to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 603 E.
